How Early Start's unique films are produced
The Early Start films all feature real children, their families, their schools and the cities, towns and villages they live in. There are no actors with scripts to learn - everyone you see is taking part in their daily activities. The teachers are real teachers; the shopkeepers, waiters and waitresses, sports instructors etc. are all filmed taking part in their regular interactions.
The small team, (comprising experienced camera operator, sound recordist and producer/director, Ilsa Rowe), travels to the foreign country to capture scenes of everyday life that can be carefully edited to make unique, short films to stimulate pupils' interest in the country, to enable them to spot the similarities and the differences in the lives of their peers - and to expose them to a range of adult and child native-speaker voices.
